Letter 77: Procopius says Diodorus's anger outlasts Achilles' anger at the Achaeans.

I thought you would complete the martyrs' festival among us and at last allow me the good fortune of seeing you. But if you so much as see Maioumas in a dream, it seems, you are distressed; fearing the omen, you call the day unlucky. Your hatred of the place has long been so deeply fixed, and from so far away, that because of it you do not even want to see your friends. You prove that time knows how to increase anger rather than expose it. I was always saying this beforehand, and now it has happened. Seeing that you avoided the place because of the people who hurt you, I often cried, "Ah, ah, once you are free of us, you will not want to see us again." But not even Achilles was angry with the Achaeans for so long. Though he hurt them by staying away, he yielded again as he should and changed his mind. Still, I am grateful to Fortune that you do not have Thetis for a mother; long ago you would have prayed, and we would have been destroyed.
