Letter 515: It has not escaped us how much good you are doing for Egypt, nor how much the Egyptians love you in return.

To Sebastianus. (356) It has not escaped us either how you benefit Egypt or how the Egyptians love you, and may both of these go on to the very end. Add, then, to those who have been well treated by you this man Dulcitius as well, who otherwise would not have come to Egypt; but since you are guarding affairs there, he has arrived, thinking perhaps that he will gain something else too, but greatest of all and before everything else immediately to set eyes upon you. Make him, therefore, both serviceable to us and, as a lover of you, more fortunate than the rest.

Σεβαστιανῷ. (356) Οὐ λέληθεν ἡμᾶς οὔθ’ ὅπως σὺ τὴν Αἴγυπτον ὠφελεῖς οὔθ’ ὅπως Αἰγύπτιοι σὲ φιλοῦσι καὶ χωροίη γε ταῦτα ἄμφω διὰ τέλους. πρόσθες δὴ τοῖς εὖ πεπονθόσιν ὑπὸ σοῦ καὶ τουτονὶ Δουλκίτιον, ὃς ἄλλως οὐκ ἂν ἐλθὼν εἰς Αἴγυπτον, ἐπειδὴ σὺ τἀκεῖ φυλάττεις, ἥκει νομίζων ἴσως μέν τι καὶ ἄλλο κερδανεῖν, μέγιστον δὲ καὶ πρὸ τῶν ἄλλων εὐθὺς τὸ σὲ προσ- ἰδεῖν. ὡς οὑν ἡμῖν τε ἐπιτήδειον καὶ σὸν ἐραστὴν ποίει τῶν ἄλλων εὐδαιμονέστερον.
