The legible continuous letter content reads as follows:] ...that a certain Theodorus, a Jew, has shown himself far too needlessly hostile to him; to such a degree that - what is unspeakable to say - When the most reverend man, Bishop Severus, was coming, I believed that your Charity also came to the thresholds of the apostles, the prince of the apostles, blessed Peter, together with him; for this had been announced to me, and I rejoiced greatly at that very report. But I believe that you, hindered by the occupations of the monastery, did not for that reason come to me at all. Receiving, however, the letters which your Charity had transmitted before this time, I read them over privately, as you wished. But concerning the three persons about whom you had written, I saw that nothing was possible; especially concerning that person who was here in my presence, I do not suspect that anything of the kind can usefully be done, for she seemed to me to be torpid either through simplicity of nature or through negligence. And therefore let your Charity, if it avails anything there, make inquiry, and carefully arrange matters, and come to me.
